Cat Care Tips
Having a cat as a pet can be an enjoyable experience, but taking care of your cat and training it to behave can take some effort. Here are some great tips to help you to keep your cat as healthy and happy as you can.
1. One of the first things you should always do whenever you get a new kitten or cat is to take it to the veterinarian. The vet will check out your cat to make sure that nothing is wrong and give it any needed shots.
2. If your cat is old enough you should seriously consider having it spayed or neutered. Studies have shown that spayed or neutered cats live longer, and of course, it helps to control the cat population and avoid having unwanted kittens to deal with.
3. Whenever your cat misbehaves you should use a spray bottle, you should not hit your cat. All you need to do, in most cases, is to spray your cat with the water bottle while you say, “No” or something similar. It is a good idea to use the same word or words each time as your cat will soon learn the meaning and may not even need to be sprayed. Just take care not to over spray your cat, you don’t want to soak it down.
4. Depending upon the age of your cat you should probably change your litter about once a week. With an adult cat you may have to change the litter more often than with a kitten. Use a scooper to remove waste at least once a day. Consider getting one of those nice covered litter boxes to minimize the amount of litter your cat may scatter.
5. If you are considering having your cat declawed you should read this: Reconsider Removing Your Cats Claws.
6. Last, but not least, give your cat plenty of love and attention.
How A Cat Communicates With Its Owner
Cats generally have quieter and more subtle ways of communicating with their owners than dogs do. If you know your cat well you can usually tell how it is feeling just by looking into its eyes and observing its body language.
Here are some of the most common ways cats communicate with their “owners”:
Purring
A cat will often purr when it is feeling happy or contented. Although many people believe that cats purr only when they are happy experienced cat owners know that this is not true. Cats also purr when they are stressed or going through a traumatic experience. Cats have even been known to purr when they are giving birth or nearing death. Purring is also a way for a cat to show their affection.
Siamese Cats
The Siamese cat originated in Thailand where they had long been one of the most popular cat breeds. It was believed that the Siamese cat could protect people and places from evil spirits and so they were often used in monasteries and palaces for this purpose. The Siamese cat was also believed to bring good luck to their owners.
In 1884 several Siamese cats were given to a British general. It was the first time this breed of cat was seen in England. Soon afterwards immigrants brought the Siamese cat to America. Today the Siamese cat is one of the most popular breeds of cats in the world and certainly one of the most recognized.
How To Give Your Cat A Bath
Contrary to popular belief a cat does not keep itself clean enough by licking and grooming itself. There comes a time when every cat owner needs to give their feline pet a good washing, but what is the best way to go about giving your cat a bath?
We once had a cat who didn’t seem to mind getting bathed too much. She didn’t really enjoy it, but she just stood still and let it happen while giving a complaining look.
However, every other cat I have ever seen REALLY hates to get wet, let alone take a full bath! Read more

Are You A Cat Whisperer?
Similar to a horse or dog whisperer, a Cat Whisperer is a person who relates particularly well with cats. A Cat Whisperer has unusual luck and success with cats. Often people bring cats or a single cat will just “show up” at their home. This cat will adopt the whisperer.
For myself, I’ve had Persians and black cats mostly, show up and move in. Sometimes, the cat’s people moved and abandoned the cat. Other times, the cat just decided it liked it better at my house.
Some say that a Cat Whisperer is a cat therapist, but in truth, most Cat Whisperers are good cat behaviorist. Most Cat Whisperers have never had any formal training, and come by it naturally. They understand a cat’s way of thinking and work with its existing behaviors to achieve the desired results.
